Wellness Programs
At Shelter Insurance, we understand the importance of our employees physical and mental health. Our Health Services team’s mission is to provide employees with resources to be their best selves. Our team offers a range of different activities and resources to support employees every day. From stress-management workshops to fitness breaks, health fairs, and access to online resources, there’s something for everyone.

Employee Resource Groups
Shelter has four Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that are open to all employees for participation. The purpose of these groups is to foster connection, company involvement, and civic engagement.

Annual Events
At Shelter we believe in working hard but also having fun along the way. Each year we host a number of events to show our employees appreciation and to connect in more informal ways. A few of our annual events include:

Employee Recognition, Talent Development & Growth Opportunities
At Shelter we enjoy recognizing the accomplishments of our employees, whether it’s through our internal Shelter Shoutouts program, our Service Award & Retirement Recognition Programs, corporate and department events, or the occasional swag and goodies giveaways, we enjoy celebrating the people that make our company award winning!

Shelter’s Reverse Mentoring Program pairs junior employees with executives to share knowledge. With more than 15 cohorts completing the program, this is a great opportunity to develop relationships with other mentors from various areas of the company and get direct exposure to the executive members that participate each year. This program also looks to strengthen organizational knowledge and enhance leadership skills. This program is open to all full-time employees, including those working in locations other than Shelter’s Home Office in Columbia, MO.

We know that the growth and development of our employees is crucial to our success. We look to help employees grow not only for their current roles but also for any future roles or leadership opportunities. Our Corporate Training team leads several classes each year focused on role-specific competencies, leadership development, strategic thinking, soft-skills and more!
