Eric Morrison to Join Shelter Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Eric Morrison, President, Sundvold Financial, has been elected to the Shelter Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors, as announced by Chair of the Board, Rick Means. Mr. Morrison was elected at the June meeting of the Board of Directors, and his service will begin on August 1, 2022.

“We are excited about Eric joining the board. His financial acumen will be very beneficial to the growth and future success at Shelter,” said Rick Means. “His extensive knowledge in the banking and financial sectors is extremely useful and will serve our agents, employees and policyholders well."

Eric Morrison boasts a 24-year career, starting with a nine-year stint at the University of Missouri Athletic Department where he held numerous positions before moving into the financial and banking arenas. Eric then took over as Director of Business Development at Sundvold Financial actively calling on, implementing and servicing new retirement plans in the mid-Missouri area. Shortly thereafter, Eric moved on to First Mid Bank & Trust (formerly known as Providence Bank) where he spent twelve years in various roles including Vice President, Community President and ultimately Regional Community Bank President for the last year. He recently announced his return to Sundvold Financial as President where he is charged with oversight of daily firm operations and staff including revenue growth and expense management as well as leading strategic initiatives and executing new business pipeline management.

President & CEO Randa Rawlins added “Eric, with his active participation in all facets of the Columbia community, will be an outstanding addition to our Board of Directors and to Shelter’s focus on being a good corporate citizen.” Rawlins noted that Morrison is currently the Chair-Elect of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. 

Mr. Morrison attended the University of Missouri where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. He also graduated from the Paul W. Barrett Graduate School of Banking where he also served as a past board member.

Mr. Morrison has an extensive list of community service including serving on the boards of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Job Point, Inc., Regional Economic Development Inc., Columbia Area Jobs Foundation, Fair Missouri Foundation, and SEED Success.

Mr. Morrison has been elected to fill the role being left by Steve Erdel who is retiring from the board. Directors serve three-year terms which can be renewed and are subject to approval by policyholders because of Shelter’s mutual insurance company status.
