Sports Ball Drive Exceeds Goal

03/18/2016

COLUMBIA, MO – In February, Shelter Insurance® sponsored the "Bring a Ball to the Ball" drive for the Boys & Girls Club of Columbia. Employees were asked to donate new or gently used sports balls for the ball drive, which was held in conjunction with the 2016 Hugh E. Stephenson Jr. Heart Ball, an annual black-tie event that supports the mission of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. Leanne Geiss, Corporate Events Director at the American Heart Association said partnerships like these are unique. "We're happy to align with another nonprofit that aligns with our mission of keeping kids healthy."

As usual, Shelter employees exceeded expectations for the ball drive, and Randa Rawlins was proud of their efforts. "This turned out to be an awesome response. We were hoping for 50-100 balls, but ended up with 300."

On March 14, 2016, Rick Means, Matt Moore, Randa Rawlins, Jay MacLellan and EPN members Matt Bronson and Brenda Mantooth loaded and delivered all 300 balls to the Boys & Girls Club of Columbia. Valorie Livingston, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Columbia said, "The Boys & Girls Club is forever grateful to Shelter and the American Heart Association for donating all these balls to keep kids healthy and active all summer long."‌‌
