Shelter Insurance® Receives PCI Award for Insurance Legislative Advocacy

COLUMBIA, MO – October 24, 2016 – Each year, Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) presents the President’s Award for Leadership in Advocacy to recognize member companies for their strong support of PCI’s advocacy efforts and their role as industry leaders in the world of political engagement. This year, they honored Rick Means, Randa Rawlins and Brian Waller of Shelter Insurance Companies as the 2016 recipient for exemplary efforts, dedicated work and leadership in both state and federal political engagement.
Rick, Randa, and Brian have been very engaged with legislative issues in Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma as well as involved in fundraising efforts to support candidates who champion PCI's public policy issues in those states. Additionally, Shelter has been a central part of PCI’s federal efforts to pass international insurance standards legislation this year by consistently working with the House bill’s leader sponsor, Chairman Blaine Leutkemeyer from Missouri. Rick also wrote an op-ed that was published in the Columbia Tribune on the need for Congress to pass this legislation.
Shelter has become focused on getting our legislators to hear our voice, working to block proposed laws that would be detrimental to insurance consumers, and writing and supporting the passage of laws that will benefit our insureds.
