The right coverage at the right price
Shelter offers several generous business owners insurance discounts. They may not be offered in all states, or may be offered under different terms.
Automatic Sprinkler Credit
Get a discount for each building or fire division that is fully protected by automatic sprinklers.
Construction Credit
If your structure is made of incombustible or fire resistant material, you may be eligible for a credit.
Condominium Credit
You may be eligible for a credit if the insured building is a condominium.
Heating System Discount
If a solid fuel heating device (wood, coal, etc.) isn't present, you can receive a discount. A conventional fireplace isn't considered a solid fuel heating device.
New Structure Discount
Structures under construction can receive a discount for one year. Structures completed and first occupied during the preceding calendar year are also eligible for a discount.
Improved Structure Discount
If you've made structural improvements during the last six calendar years, you may be eligible for a discount.
Protective Devices Credit
Get a discount for having the following devices on your property:
- An approved alarm system
- A fire or smoke alarm in all offices and business occupancies within a building
- Dead-bolt locks on all exterior doors and all accessible doors and windows
- One fire extinguisher on each level of your building
