Shelter Insurance® Announces Management Reorganization

Columbia, MO — November 16, 2017 - Shelter Insurance Companies announced today the following actions taken by the Shelter Mutual Insurance Board of Directors at its November 16, 2017, meeting:
 
Rick Means, who currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer, was elected to become Chairman of the Board in June 2018, replacing current Chairman Don McCubbin, who retires from the Board in June 2018. Means will remain as Chief Executive Officer.
 
Matt Moore, Executive Vice President, was elected President and Chief Operating Officer, effective January 1, 2018.
 
Randa Rawlins, Senior Vice President and General Counsel, was promoted to Executive Vice President, effective January 1, 2018. She will remain as General Counsel until her replacement is named.
Rawlins was elected to the Board of Directors, effective July 1, 2018. She will replace Don McCubbin on the Board and will complete his unexpired term.
 
Rick Means
Rick Means joined Shelter Insurance® in May 1977 in the Claims Department after receiving a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He has served as Vice President of Claims, Vice President of Underwriting, Executive Vice President, and President and Chief Executive Officer since 2012. His areas of responsibility have included Marketing, Information Technology, Shelter Benefits Management, as well as Claims and Underwriting.
 
Matt Moore
Matt Moore was graduated from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock with a bachelor's degree in education, and from Northeast Louisiana University with a master's degree in Education. He joined Shelter Insurance® as a claims adjuster at Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1983. He served as claims supervisor and as branch manager at West Plains, Missouri, and Little Rock before transferring to the Home Office at Columbia, Missouri, as regional claims director in 2000. He advanced to director of market expansion in Marketing in 2005, and to vice president of Claims in 2007. He was named executive vice president in July 2012, assuming responsibility for Claims, Marketing, Underwriting, Public Affairs and General Services Departments.
 
Randa Rawlins
Randa Rawlins joined Shelter Insurance® in 2002 as corporate secretary and general counsel. She is a 1979 graduate of Truman State University, and a 1982 graduate of the University of Missouri School Of Law. She 
was named Senior Vice President in 2016 and retained her title of General Counsel. Prior to Joining Shelter, Randa was in private practice for 20 years in Kansas City. Her practice primarily consisted of insurance defense and business litigation, with concentration in medical malpractice defense, primarily for individual doctors.
